It hits you,
and then you forget
to breathe because
it seems like
everything

is wrong and
will never, ever be right.
And you afraid of
your life,
your future,
your friends,
you become momentarily
terrified of
the world.
And you don't move,
and you breathe ragged
when you can,
and you cry
and it's scary.
When it feels like
the entire earth
is eating you up
limb by limb.
And you're scared
and can't fix it.
It may happen
when you're listening
to Jeff Buckley's
"Hallelujah",
and if it does.
Then you're hosed,
because it's so damn sad,
on top of all the other sad.
